Catalina Char is a Colombian artist born in Barranquilla, a coastal city where color, rhythm, and nature compose the very soul of everyday existence. Catalina’s artistic path began with an early fascination for auras, those subtle fields of energy she sensed around living beings. What started as curiosity gradually became a way of perceiving the world, linking her sensitivity to the rhythms of nature. She never fully understood the purpose of that gift until the day her life changed: she woke up without control of her body and was diagnosed with dysautonomia.

In that stillness, she discovered that her sensitivity to energy carried meaning. Nature became both refuge and teacher, guiding her toward healing and grounding. Today, this connection shapes her visual language. Led by intuition and emotion, she begins each piece from a felt experience, allowing color and texture to flow freely, transforming invisible energy into expressive, physical form.

Her process is fluid and contemplative, as she believes that art is the link between the physical reality we view and the spirituality we feel. The nature of her city and the landscapes she stumbles upon meandering, have always been her muse. Every work she produces creates a unique feeling of silence and life. Catalina’s art focuses on the invisible thread that connects people with the earth, converting their energy into visual representation. In this way, she creates a unique story of presence, emotion, and metamorphosis inspired by her perception of energy, form, and vision.
My work inhabits the space of the real and what we call fiction. I find abstraction and surrealism to be ways in which I can speak to the unseen, to an energy of a moment, to the aura of a human body, to an invisible line that stretches between us and the unseen realm. Each piece starts in my mind, a moment in my life, never planned, just fulfilled. I celebrate the natural world: the ethereal textures, patterns, and rhythms of nature and the transformative power it has to heal our spirit.

My paintings capture the aura and energy of a moment, translated into a surreal visual state. My sculptures extend this intention into the physical realm, creating the presence I seek to evoke on the canvas. I have come to understand the body as a vessel of quiet resilience, a living extension of nature itself. Through stillness, I learned to honor what truly supports us. We often take for granted our roots, formed from the same creation that surrounds us. The body does not ask, it gives. My connection with nature has healed me day by day, the simple act of hugging a tree, grounding, and appreciating what God gave us.

My purpose is to mirror life with nature; the energy we can't see, becomes loud and clear through color and form in my work. My art is the site of that: a meditative, connecting space, a reminder of the quiet yet unbreakable threads that holds all living nature together. I want to remind my viewers that they are part of the unseen rhythm and flow of nature that give us the possibility to exist within.
